Why it matters

Insurance built for concrete work

Concrete contractors face substantial risk on every job: property damage and bodily injury claims, costly equipment breakdowns and faulty-workmanship disputes. The physical nature of the work, tight timelines and weather dependence all add exposure.

We've insured concrete contractors across the Pacific Northwest for more than three decades. We understand the work — from managing ready-mix deliveries to finishing a pour before the weather turns — and structure coverage around it.

Essential coverage

Core coverage for concrete contractors

General liability

Third-party bodily injury and property damage — concrete splatter on vehicles, slip-and-fall injuries, or damage to adjacent property during a pour.

Commercial auto

Mixer trucks, pump trucks, flatbeds and work vehicles, including heavy equipment transport and specialized delivery vehicles.

Inland marine / equipment

Power trowels, screeds, vibrators, forms and finishing equipment against theft, damage and breakdown, at the yard or on the job.

Workers' compensation

Required coverage for employee injuries. Concrete work means heavy lifting, repetitive motion and caustic materials.

Completed operations

Claims after a job is finished — important for concrete, where cracks, settling or structural issues may not appear for months or years.

Commercial property

Your office, equipment yard and stored materials — forms, rebar and supplies — against fire, theft, vandalism and weather.

FAQ

Common questions about concrete contractor insurance

How much does concrete contractor insurance cost?
Cost depends on annual revenue, number of employees, types of work and claims history. A small residential flatwork contractor might pay $3,000–$6,000 a year, while larger commercial operations with pumping services could pay $15,000–$50,000 or more. We provide quotes based on your specific operation.
What is completed operations coverage and why do I need it?
Completed operations coverage protects you against claims that arise after a job is finished. For concrete work it matters: cracks, settling or structural issues often don't appear until months or years after the pour. Most general contractors require subcontractors to carry it before they'll hire you.
Does my policy cover damage from a concrete spill?
Standard general liability policies typically cover property damage from concrete spills or splatter on vehicles, landscaping or structures. The cost to repair or redo your own faulty work is generally not covered — only the resulting damage to other property. We can explain the specifics of your policy.
Do I need special coverage for concrete pumping operations?
Yes. Pumping is considered higher risk because of the specialized equipment and the potential for boom-related incidents. You'll need adequate commercial auto coverage for pump trucks plus liability coverage that specifically includes pumping operations. Not all insurers write pumping, but we work with markets that specialize in it.
What limits do general contractors typically require?
Most general contractors require subcontractors to carry at least $1 million per occurrence / $2 million aggregate in general liability. Larger commercial projects often require higher limits — sometimes $5 million or more, typically through an umbrella. They'll also usually require completed operations coverage and additional insured status.
